Carolina Shores lists eight subdivisions in its 2.88 square miles — Beacon Townes, Calabash Lakes, Eagle Run, Lighthouse Cove and four more — and split from Calabash in 1998 over sewer, garbage and sign rules. It's governed mostly by private covenant, not town code. There's no course inside Carolina Shores itself, despite the name, but Brunswick Plantation, The Pearl Golf Links, Meadowlands and Farmstead are all within a few minutes across the interlocked line with Calabash.
