Who restores and maintains synthetic putting greens on the Grand Strand?
TIMELESS Turf Restoration restores and maintains synthetic putting greens from Shallotte, NC to Burgess, SC. A visit clears the green, brushes it, cleans the cups and fringe, top-dresses with kiln-dried green sand, rolls it and checks the speed. Greens are quoted after an inspection, and most backyard greens land between $299 and $899. Brian has worked in turf and putting greens for 13 years.
What a green needs that a lawn does not
A lawn is judged by how it looks. A green is judged by how a ball rolls on it, and that comes down to three things: sand at a consistent depth, fibers standing up to hold that sand, and a surface clear enough to blow off. When any one of them slips, the green goes slow, bumpy or unpredictable long before it looks worn.
On the Grand Strand the usual culprits are seasonal. Pine pollen starts in February and turns to paste in the sand, live oaks drop their leaves in April, and heavy summer rain moves sand from the high side of a green to the low side. That is why most home greens do well with a light owner routine all year and one proper restoration once pollen season is over.
Brian has worked in turf and putting greens for 13 years, and our sister company builds greens. When a green needs more than sand and a brush, such as a settled base or fibers worn down to the backing, we will say so rather than sell a restoration that cannot fix it.
