Why does my artificial grass look faded and dull?
Dull, lifeless-looking turf is almost always a thin film of dirt, pollen residue, hard-water minerals or general grime coating fibers that are still their original color underneath; a deep clean and power brush removes the film and the color looks fresh again. True fading is different: ultraviolet light has broken down the pigment inside the fiber itself over years of sun exposure, and it is even, permanent, and does not respond to any cleaner. Dirt-dull versus sun-faded
A film of dirt, pollen residue and hard-water minerals settles onto turf fiber the same way it settles onto a car left outside, muting the color without changing it. Underneath that film the original pigment is intact, which is why a good clean can make three-year-old turf look close to new. True UV fade is a chemical change in the pigment molecules themselves, breaking down slowly under years of sunlight, and it does not sit on the surface where anything can wash it off. It shows up first and worst on the areas that get the most direct, unbroken sun, typically the open middle of a south-facing lawn, rather than spots shaded by a fence or a tree.
How to check which you have
Wipe a small area firmly with a damp microfiber cloth or run a wet hand over it. If the cloth picks up visible dirt and the wiped patch looks noticeably brighter than the rest, you are looking at a dirt film. If the color looks identical before and after wiping, and the dullness is even across the whole sun-exposed area rather than patchy, that is closer to true fade. Comparing a sun-exposed area to a spot that is always shaded, under furniture or a planter, is another useful check; a big difference between the two points to sun fade rather than dirt.

What fixes it
A dirt film comes off with the standard deep clean: power brush to work the film loose from the fibers, followed by a thorough rinse. Most yards see a real, visible difference after one visit. True fade has no cleaning fix, since the color loss is inside the fiber; a clean will still remove any dirt sitting on top of faded turf and make it look better than before, but it will not bring the original color back. Slowing fade going forward
Fade cannot be stopped on turf sitting in full sun; it is a normal aging process for any outdoor synthetic material and typically takes several years to become obvious. What you can control is dirt-dullness, which comes back faster in pollen season and after storms; a clean once or twice a year keeps the actual color visible in between, rather than looking faded when it is really just dirty.
